VISION

Functional Reforms in the SAC

Community-Driven Agenda Setting: At the start of tenure, students will be consulted via webmail to gather project suggestions and vote on priorities, giving the student community a direct say in shaping the SAC agenda.

Project Leaders: Each project will be assigned two leaders (one UG, one PG) responsible for execution and progress updates at monthly meets, with direct intervention in cases of inactivity.

Project Database: A two-tiered project tracker using Google Docs – an internal detailed tracker and a public-facing version, with contact details of the members of the respective project, maintained and linked on SAC Instagram bio.

SAC Team in Committee Meets: Active SAC members will be nominated to various institute committee meets as invitees, giving them exposure and fostering healthy competition within the team.

SAC Bulletin: Regular Instagram posts and webmails summarising SAC's bimonthly progress.

Infrastructure

24/7 Gate Access: Enable 24×7 entry through Jia Sarai and Katwaria Sarai gates via RFID gates for PG day scholars.

Hot Water in Institute Area: Install hot water dispensers in the LHC, blocks, main building and academic blocks.

Cycle Parking Upgrades: Declutter the stand in Katwaria Sarai gate, and level the parking area near Jia Sarai gate.

Annual Hostel Safety Audits: Conduct yearly infrastructure audits across hostels with findings circulated via mail.

Hostel Infrastructure Report: Collaborate with BHM to consolidate frequent issues reported by Maintenance and House Secretaries into a unified report for systematic resolution.

Food Outlets and Messing for Day Scholars

Virtual Messes: Institute-allotted hostel mess access on a meal basis for day scholars at hosteller rates, with additional charges for amenities like Gym and Washing machines and a QR/RFID-based system for ad-hoc meals.

Food Outlet Surveys: Float forms twice in each semester, with findings published on the SAC Instagram handle.

Healthcare

Hospital:

○ Implement a token system with displays over OPD gates to prevent skipping of queues. Introduce a waiting call system for specialist appointments in case of no-shows.

○ Extend Apollo Pharmacy to 24/7 operations for emergency medicine needs, and introduce medical benefits for families of Married Research Scholars.

Insurance Awareness: Spread awareness on medical insurance and its terms and conditions through fresher onboarding sessions (with parents) and hostel orientations, supplemented by a post on the SAC Instagram handle.

Air Pollution: Install filters on main AHUs in LHC and Library, and install air purifiers in hostel common rooms, SAC rooms, and labs. Arrange emergency oxygen tanks for asthma patients during the winter season in the hospital.

Sanitary Facilities: Collaborate with DevClub to upgrade vending machines to UPI-based payments, and place sanitary kits with disposal bins in female washrooms across boys' hostels.

Other Initiatives

PG Placements: Collaborate with BSW to organise guidance sessions and with the OCS Nucleus team to float department-specific forms gathering student inputs on preferred companies and the type of roles they're seeking.

Project Portal: Extend posting access to PhD students (with supervisor approval) to address the existing shortage of projects, giving UG students hands-on research experience while gaining a mentor in the process.

Commute Portal: Collaborate with Robotics Club to implement real-time digital tracking of E-rickshaws and E-karts, establish designated E-kart routes, and advocate for an increase in the number of E-rickshaws on campus.

Computer Donation Drive: Collaborate with Samadhan Foundation and NSS, IIT Delhi to donate functional but retired computers, currently disposed of as scrap, to underprivileged communities.

Revamped Visitor Entry System: Introduce a QR-based visitor entry system where students can share a temporary QR code with their visitor, enabling seamless gate entry with automatic logging of student details.
