OPERATIONS
- Preparation of a calendar for the tenure along with strict timeline establishment for each project
- Project tracker for Chief Editors: a Google Sheet for each project with weekly updates for checking progress
- Much stronger co-lead involvement: recruitment in 3 phases, and similar stature as Chief Editors with involvement in Ed-Board meets and board decisions
- Sticking to 1 CE/project for most projects to avoid slack. Explicit work division if multiple CEs are necessary
- Organising of BSP google drive early into the tenure, with separate sections for journalistic data and information storage
- Bi-monthly editorial board meets to ensure timely progress and for coherent board decisions
- "CE training" right after majors, familiarising them with project ideation, publicity mechanisms
JOURNALISM
- "SAC/CAIC/OCS Reports": Elaborate reports on the functioning of major student bodies for transparency
- Consistent physical TL;DRs every two weeks, with a (free) subscribers' model alongside distribution to student hotspots like ex-hall, LHC, SAC, etc.
- Initiate Inquirer well into the first semester to ensure timely completion, while continuing with the bi-annual model
- An in-depth investigation into the state of mental health on campus in collaboration with SAC, analysing student perspectives as well as support mechanisms
CREATIVE
- Focus on formats that pique interest of team members – creative writing for journalists, fresh artwork for design techies, short films and photography for media techies
- A regular comic series, reflecting on campus occurrences and trends
- A "gamified segment" in TL;DRs for better engagement with readers, such as puzzles, quizzes, crosswords, etc.
DESIGN
- Repository of sample designs from previous articles (by both BSP and other bodies) for references
- Incorporation of art rather than pure infographic design, particularly in creative publication, to pique techies' interest
- Compilation of internet resources (tutorials, open-source softwares, etc.) for techies, prepared by current and previous design CEs
MEDIA
- Revamp Inception reels into short films, showcasing multiple aspects of campus life such as academics, health, and societies
- Series of short informative, creative shoots about campus – flora and fauna, festivals, etc.
- Involve techies in journalism as photographers for topicals and journalistic pieces as well as reports in TL;DRs
- Involve journalists in creative media projects for script writing and ideation to strengthen team bonding
- Organise a workshop in collaboration with Photography and Films Club to attract the best media talent to BSP
- Train journalists to allow them to take over basic interview shoots such as Mid Term Review and Meet the Dean
LITERATI
- Scale Literati down to a 1-day fest with fewer events, as
> Fest work is extremely time consuming and puts all projects on hold
> The fest isn't received well, it has very little audience
> Work is extremely unenjoyable for team members, especially 2nd years
- Reduce low-audience events, such as keynote sessions, sticking to bigger names and saving resources
- Form a marketing team earlier in the tenure to arrange for funds, allowing a stronger budget and overall prep
OUTREACH
- Invest in book racks for campus hotspots like LHC, SAC, Ex-hall, etc. for magazines, TL;DRs, etc.
- Physical PG orientation in all 4 PG hostels to capitalize on untapped journalistic passion and skillset
- "Genesis" (PG freshers' magazine) as an 'edition' of Inception, replacing B.Tech relevant articles with those for Masters'
- Opening op-eds to the larger campus population through a submission mechanism, albeit with rigorous quality checks
- Full shift to the Mercury bot for publicity, given poor effectiveness of hostel-level POCs
- Regular intake of ideas for projects from larger campus community, through Instagram stories, QR codes in TL;DRs, etc.
MISCELLANEOUS
- Stricter, earlier POR/ECA cancellation to incentivise work in 2nd years, especially those with lesser natural interest.
- Regular, fairer granting of honorariums to external judges, speakers, etc.
