Guest Room Portal: Develop a portal for real-time guest room availability and bookings, increasing revenue and improving guest room conditions. Integrate this portal into the BHM App for seamless access.

Mess and Food Initiatives: Expand biometric attendance systems to all 16 hostels and integrate it with the rebate system to ensure automatic cancellation of attendance on rebate days. Use collected mess data to analyze food consumption patterns, reduce wastage, and explore feasibility for pay-per-meal and non-messing options. Display individual mess bill ledgers on the BHM App in collaboration with CSC. Conduct inspections of food outlets at both hostel and institute* levels ensuring hygiene and quality.

Water Quality Improvements  Replace geysers for drinking water with water dispensers due to high TDS levels in heated water.  Conduct lab testing of hostel RO water to assess quality and take corrective measures.  Insulate water pipes and tanks to prevent heating of water in summer and reduce wastage.

Improved Maintenance Portal: Revamp the complaint portal with ERP integration for faster resolutions. And launch an improved maintenance interface on the BHM App.

New Commercial and Service Outlets

Open a salon in SAC with discounted student rates and proper service standards.

Taking action against outlets in the IIT Market area and Staff Canteen for serving substandard food, while simultaneously exploring new and affordable alternatives for the IIT Market and nearby Delhi-16 shops.

Initiate food truck trials at locations like Kumaon-Vindy road and the main Institute Area.

Revamp the Rajdhani outlet area with better ambience and amenities and explore new outlets for that area.

Ensure uniform pricing across juice shops by benchmarking per-ml pricing with external vendors and other IITs.

Mess Bill and Seat Rent Transparency: Ensure full transparency in mess bills by clearly demarcating seat rent and individual cost components in mess bills.

Training Hostel Staff to Reduce Outsourcing: Train mess staff to prepare in-house sweets and snacks, improving quality while reducing dependency on external vendors and reducing mess bills.

Student Well-Being and Community Initiatives

Restart Freshers’ Night at the hostel level at the end of the first month to strengthen hostel culture

Facilitate inter-hostel movement for cultural activities in CCTV-monitored common areas

Conduct fire safety drills in every hostel to enhance emergency preparedness.

Establish non-messing options for students staying on campus for internships and research work in summer.

Continue providing discounted courier services for graduating batches from within IIT with proper administrative approvals.

Food Safety and Mess Regulations

Implement a set of hygiene regulations inspired by FSSAI guidelines across all hostel messes.

Establish a cross-hostel audit committee to assess hygiene standards. **

Enhanced PG Room Allocation System: Introduce a more frequent room allocation system to optimize hostel capacity and revenue. Adjust mess bills and seat rent accordingly for better resource management.

* has been conducted at the institute level

** instead of this, an institute-wide committee with a slightly different structure involving central as well as hostel administration has been set up

Hostel-level infrastructural initiatives:

Install hot and cold water dispensers on each floor to replace outdated heating equipment, improving energy efficiency by eliminating individual heating solutions and reducing reliance on obsolete systems after the cancellation of AMC.

Better Hostel Room Allocation & Booking System: Improve transparency in vacant room allotment and streamline the booking process for fest and conference participants to generate hostel revenue.

Implement centralized thermal management for rooftop water tanks across all hostels by installing sheds to reduce heat absorption in summers, using thermal jackets for year-round insulation to maintain optimal water temperatures, and ensuring uniformity through centralized procurement and installation.

Implement a feedback system where hostel residents can contribute ideas or highlight areas for improvement.

Institute-level infrastructure proposals:

Live Inventory Updates: Enable real-time status checks for maintenance requests and stock availability, reducing delays and improving accountability. Develop a real-time demand and supply tracking system in the BHM app, ensuring complete transparency in administrative inventory for hostel supplies like cleaning essentials (glass cleaners, floor cleaners, etc.), furniture, and electrical items.

Include the BHM body in the Licensing Committee to ensure active participation in vendor licensing and outlet approvals, enabling better regulation of infrastructure and food outlets inside hostels while advocating for quality assurance in vendor contracts for mess, canteens, and other student services.

Setting up an electronic accessories shop in campus premises to help the student needs

Encourage wider student participation in agenda-setting and execution, ensuring broader representation in maintenance decisions.
