Convocation, 2019






A new era is upon us, as we bid an emotional goodbye to the outgoing class of 2019. One can sense the bittersweet atmosphere on campus as students enter the gates with their proud parents and siblings for one last time before they leap into a new world, armed with the experiences, friendships and teachings they have accumulated during their golden years at IIT Delhi.

IIT Delhi celebrated its 50th Golden Jubilee convocation ceremony today, a hazy 2nd of November.

The Chief Guest for today's commencement ceremony was Dr K Sivan, Chairperson of ISRO. In his address to the graduating batch, he talked about the importance of aligning passion and career, drawing upon the bank of knowledge of the older generation. Several important announcements were also made by the Director in his report, which included the signing of an MOU with ISRO for the creation of a Space Technology Cell and the starting of a new B.Tech programme in Design and new M.Tech programmes in ML/AI and Electric Vehicles from the 2020 academic session.

The following were the gold medallists at today's investiture: President's Gold Medal: Praneeth Kacham Director's Gold Medal: Mallika Singla Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal: Himakshi Barsiwal Perfect Ten Gold Medal: Arka Mukherjee, Deepesh Kumar Gautam, Ankita Pramanick, Diksha Gupta

The ceremony also saw Prof. Srinivasan Keshav, Cheriton School of Computer Science at University of Waterloo, Dr. Mohit Aron, Founder and CEO of Cohesity and Mr. Binny Bansal, Cofounder of Flipkart being honoured with the prestigious Distinguished Alumni Award while Mr Arun Duggal, Chairman of ICRA Ltd and Mr Amarjit Bakshi, MD of Bakshi Group were honoured with the Distinguished Alumni Service Award.

We wish the outgoing batch all the very best for all their future endeavours.
